A delegation from the Regional education directorate from Otjozondjupa paid the OVTC management a courtesy visit on Friday, 17 May 2024 in Okakarara.
The meeting held early this morning was attended by the Regional Director of Education Mr. Gebhard Ndafenongo and Ms. Laurentia Muzuma an inspector of the visited circuit. Discussions considered areas of collaboration between the Ministry of Education in the region and OVTC.
The team identified learning and skills for life, work and sustainable development as one of those areas to be explored.
The regional directorate through its strategic plan for the 2024 year is willing to support creative industries to diversify a plethora of opportunities for Namibians.
In addition, the plan was further explained to the OVTC management on the performance improvement plans by monitoring progress of practical subjects’ course work. This the Director says can be achieved through the organization of regional talks for both grade 11 and AS Levels.
The country held a National Conference on Education, Mr. Ndafenongo further reiterated the recommendations of the conference and implored the OVTC to drive the narrative of reaching out to every Namibian child. This he says, can be achieved through the acceleration of educational infrastructure development and the review of the TVET curriculum with its strengthening.
On its part, the OVTC management spoke about the production of the school uniforms, leather shoes, repairs of school desks and chairs for the region. An idea the regional director welcomed. The Vocational Training Centre will assist the three technical schools in the region with exposure for the learners to advance their technical careers.
The meeting concluded with a decision to host a joint regional career fair at the OVTC from the 15th of July this year. The fair is to be attended by all the schools in the region.
