OKAKARARA – The Otjozondjupa Regional Governor Hon. James Unomasa Uerikua visited the Okakarara Vocational Training Centre to familiarize himself with the projects undertaken by the training institution.

Okakarara Vocational Training Centre worked closely with the office of the Governor in preparing for the Namibian Newspaper cup that was hosted in the region this year.

During the meeting, the Governor was informed by Moses Tjirare that former and current trainees are working on renovating the Centre’s administration block and a few classrooms.

The Governor was further informed about the expansion plans underway at the Centre such as the project of introducing Agricultural training. This project is dependent on the availability of farm land for the Centre.

The OVTC Management informed the Governor on the successful Innovation and Entrepreneurship week which was hosted in August this year at the Centre.

A number of trainings and opportunities flowed in as a result of the networking sessions during the said week in August.

The Centre Manager, also informed the Governor that the training institution takes business creation seriously and thus will be coming up with an incubation Centre for trainees to come up with their businesses shortly after training.

After the meeting, the Governor took a tour around the Centre and inspected the ongoing renovations of the Administration block, Self-Catering Kitchen, Production Units and the Pamwe Hotel School on the outskirts of Okakarara.

In conclusion, the Governor pledged his support towards the Centre and its management to foster a long lasting relationship between the two public offices.
